Attention Flooring Contractors:
Finishing a Floor has Never Been Easier or
Safer
StepGuard is an important breakthrough in floor finishes. Homeowners
love it because it is safe and durable. Contractors
love it because it is so much easier to work with than other floor
finishes. They
both love it because it is better for the environment.
Self-Catalizing
Most water-based polyurathanes must be catalized by mixing in a
second, often toxic product that is added to the polyurathane just
prior to application to complete the formulation of the floor finish.
The catalyst is usually a toxic agent such as azeradine or isocyanide
and must be handled with extreme caution and never touched or inhaled
directly.
StepGuard eliminates the need to work with
toxic catalysts. Instead,
StepGuard has a self-catalyzing system already in the container.
Nothing needs to be added to the formula. The contractor has only
to gently agitate the container to activate our self-catalyzing system
and it's ready to use.
Shelf Life
Other floor finishes have to be used within a few hours of being
catalized. They soon solidify and can no longer be
used, leading to waste and higher expense. Smaller jobs become especially
wasteful projects, because the entire container must be catalized,
and the polyurathane either used immediately or thrown away. The
contractor either absorbs the cost of this waste or passes it on
to the homeowner, but in either event, no one wins.
StepGuard can be resealed and used again and again. No
matter how large or small the project at hand, there will be no wasted
polyurathane. Simply reseal the container, and the StepGuard inside
is ready to be used another day. In fact, the shelf life of a resealed
container of StepGuard is months long.
Self-Sealing
Other floor finishes requre the extra step of applying a sealer
coat to the floor. These sealers often raise the grain of the wood,
creating a rough, textured finish where a smooth, perfect one is
desired. Now that problem is solved.
StepGuard eliminates the need to apply a seperate
wood sealer to the floor. Not only does this save a whole
step, but it saves the contractor time and money. It eliminates the
confusion of using multiple products in multiple steps. Everything
you need to seal and finish a wood floor is in one bottle. If
used as directed, it won't raise the wood grain the way other products
will. With StepGuard your floors stay smooth.
Lower Toxicity
For the last 20 years the Environmental Protection Agency has been
advocating a transition away from solvent-based coatings. In other
industries, such as paint, there have been mandated requirements
to move quickly toward water-based technology.
Envirocoat embraces water-based technologies
as the best choice for field-applied coating systems. In
practice this means the contractor who uses StepGuard is handling
a product which is safer than solvent-based coatings. The lack of
that "toxic odor"
tells the story - and our
product data sheet offers
the details. StepGuard meet a higher environmental standard.
Quicker Drying Time
Nothing drains a contractor's productivity more than the "one-coat-a-day"
syndrome. Floor finishes that require 8-12 hours of drying time also
keep a home in disarray much longer than is necessary. No one benefits
from the delay.
SteGuard dries in half the time. Contractors can
make multiple applications in a single day, which increases their
productivity and gets the project to the finish line faster. Everybody
wins.
Heat Stable & Freeze/Thaw Stable
Floor finishes tend to have a long shelf life... unless they
are stored in less than optimal conditions. Subject them to even
brief periods of heat or cold, and they will give you all sorts of
problems during application and drying. Storage conditions are critically
important, which leads to higher warehousing and transporting costs.
StepGuard eliminates storage challenges. Heat,
freezing and thawing won't affect its performance. If your warehouse
varies in temperature throughout the year, don't worry about StepGuard's
shelf life. If you need to store it in your van, no problem, whether
it's December is Alaska or July in Florida. If used as directed,
StepGuard is stable for up to 20 cycles with no loss of performance.
